Capital One is Buying Discover for $35 Billion in Biggest Deal So Far This Year (Micro News for February 24, 2024 – March 1, 2024)

Capital One is going all in with its recent announcement of its acquisition of Discover Financial Services for $35.3 billion in stock. Discover shareholders will receive slightly more than one share of Capital One stock for every share of Discover stock, which is about 27% higher than the current Discover price.

Volkswagen and Audi are Starting to Challenge Tesla (Micro News for January 30, 2021 – February 5, 2021)

Volkswagen, the world's largest auto manufacturer, sold a little over 231,000 electric cars in 2020. This number is less that half of Tesla's 2020 sales, but it represents a 214% increase over Volkswagen's 2019 electric car sales. CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Ralf Brandstätter, stated the increase put the firm "well on track to achieve our aim of becoming the market leader in battery electric vehicles."
