U.N. Chief Calls for an End to $7 Trillion in Fossil Fuel Subsidies (Micro News for September 30, 2023 – October 6, 2023)

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, stated that global warming was having horrendous effects around the world. Guterres claimed that "humanity has opened the gates to hell" and that we need to accelerate the fight against climate change. One thing Guterres stated must happen is to end the approximately $7 trillion in annual fossil fuel subsidies.

France Announces Plans to Build Up to 14 Nuclear Reactors (Micro News for February 12, 2022 – February 18, 2022)

France announced it would build as many as 14 new nuclear reactors over the next few decades. President Macron stated construction would begin on six nuclear reactors in 2028 with another eight potentially coming after those were completed. The reactors are an attempt to increase energy output without releasing harmful greenhouse gases. They will also buffer the nation "against volatile energy prices."

Do You Work Remotely? This Program Could Pay You $10,000 To Do So from Oklahoma (Macro News for November 21, 2020 – November 27, 2020)

A program funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation called Tulsa Remote will pay eligible workers $10,000 to move to Oklahoma. Applicants must be employed and able to move to Tulsa and keep working for their respective employers. The goal is to "introduce Tulsa to the nation and create a vibrant and diverse talent ecosystem."

France to Inject Almost $9 Billion Into Ailing Auto Industry (Micro News for May 23, 2020 – May 29, 2020)

France announced it would spend $8.8 billion to subsidize the nation’s auto industry. President Emmanuel Macron stated that auto sales were down by 80% relative to the same time last year and there were about 400,000 unsold vehicles sitting in inventory. The industry has about 400,000 employees in France with around 4,000 firms involved.
